Industry Applications for Python

IBM defines Industry 4.0 as “synonymous with smart manufacturing, is the realization of the digital transformation of the field, delivering real-time decision making, enhanced productivity, flexibility and agility to revolutionize the way companies manufacture, improve and distribute their products. “

Industry uses technologies to gather and analyze data from humans and machines during manufacturing processes. The goals is to make better decisions, improve production workflows, increase automation and optimize manufacturing processes that are ripe for improvements.

For example, Python is a versatile programming language that can be used for pattern recognition to aid in machine learning and predictive maintenance in manufacturing settings. Python can also be used to collect and analyze data to identify trends in the quality control arena.

As a language, Python can be used to promote the tenets of Industry 4.0 – big data collection, statistical and predictive analysis, process improvements and automation.
